Right-handed pitcher Jason Marquis told mlb.com that he will start the Rockies home opener against Philadelphia at Coors Field on Friday April 10. Cole Hamels is currently scheduled to start for the Phillies, as long as he is healthy.

The decision was pretty much expected in light of Aaron Cook and Ubaldo Jimenez being scheduled to start the first two games of the season, April 6 and 7 at Arizona, which puts them in place to start against the Phillies on April 11-12.

The Rockies want to split left-handers Jorge De La Rosa and Franklin Morales, which means Marquis is set to be in the No. 4 slot, setting him up for the April 10 game.
