Morales to start third game
Franklin Morales will start the third game of the regular season next Wednesday at Arizona. He will follow Aaron Cook and Ubaldo Jimenez with Jason Marquis scheduled to start the home opener April 10 against the Phillies and Jorge De La Rosa slotted for the fifth game of the season.
With three off days scheduled in the first 11 days of the season, the Rockies can decide whether to keep Morales on the 25-man roster or send him to Triple-A Colorado Springs to pitch. Obviously, what Morales does against the Diamondbacks will factor into that decision.
The Rockies also reassigned catcher Sal Fasano, first baseman-outfielder Dan Ortmeier and infielder Jonathan Herrera to minor league camp.
