Bresnan Wyoming Balks

FSN Rocky Mountain expanded its television package for the Rockis this year, but Bresnan Cable in Wyoming has declined to pick up the additional 24 games.
Several Wyoming viewers have inquired about the absence of the games.
In the past, FSN telecasts 126 games, and other games were televised over commerical television in the Denver area.
This year, FSN has added 24 games, which led to a minimal increase in fees charged cable systems. While all major cable systems in metro Denver agreed to the deal to show the 150-game schedule, in Wyoming only 126 games will be shown on Bresnan. The 24 games not be televised are in the first two months of the season.
Missing from the Wyoming packages were the first two games of the season in Arizona.
Also, unless an agreement is reached, the Wyoming cable package will not include any of the games this weekend against Philadelphia at Coors Field.
Also missing for the Wyoming viewers of Bresnan will be:
–April 17 and April 19 at Los Angeles
–April 21 at Arizona
— April 24 and April 26 against Los Angeles at Coors Field
–April 28 against San Diego at Coors Field
— May 1 at San Francisco
–May 4 at San Diego
–May 6 against San Francisco at Coors Field
–May 8 and May 10 against Florida at Coors Field
–May12 and May 13 against Houston at Coors Field
–May 16 at Pittsburgh
–May 19 at Atlanta
–May 23 at Detroit
–May 26 against Los Angeles at Coors Field
==May 30 and May 31 against San Diego at Coors Field.

We had the same problem out here in Grand Junction.
Get DirecTv!! Better picture along with better price. If you want local channels just tell them you want to keep getting the bill at your current address and then tell them you moved to Denver and give them a denver address. Any ?’s email me at helton1bag@aol.com …as you can tell I dont like the cable company!
This kind of arrogance and haughtiness is typical of monopolisitic cable tV corporations, who long have had no concept or understanding of what customer service is. Thus they are going to lose out and suffer the consequences. I, along with dozens, maybe hundreds of others, will be firing Bresnan as our television content provider and switching over to DirecTV. In my case, I will switch fully to the Qwest internet and television package, offering me far greater content at a savings of about 25-30 % a month in charges. I could use a whole series of foul words to describe my intenses anger and outrage towards these Bresnan hoods, but I will spare you. I paid to get every Rockies game that is available for telecast and not for Bresnan insensitivity, greed, and stupidity !
Thanks, Tracy, for the explanation as to why the first two games of the season were replaced in Riverton with poker, go-cart racing, and reruns of the “Best Damn” nothing show. This episode is another demonstration of cable TV’s arrogant attitude: “Give the Wyoming public crappy programming. They’ll pay for anything.”
It’s 26 additional games of programming for baseball fans that most folks didn’t get before because when the games were on commerical TV in Denver the station wasn’t one that cable systems carry. I saw an article in which the complaint was the Rockies were trying to get more money out of their cable package. Not true. The Rockies have a long-term deal with FSN and there is no increase in rights fees for these additional games on FSN. This is merely FSN bringing in house what it has paid to telecast, and actually exapanding the potential viewership base for those games.
Funny part is the pre-game shows and post-game shows are still aired. It’s the game that can’t be seen.
Thanks for bringing to light this ridiculous practice, Tracy. George and Katy’s Man have done a nice job stating their frustrations in a much more civil manner than I have been able to do. The frustrations are manifold, compounded by fans’ inability to communicate our displeasure to anyone local (much time spent on the telephone waiting to speak with people who are pleasant but have no idea what is or is not happening on the local system and why, as they are half-way across the continent) and a website which is (intentionally?) counter-intuitive and difficult to use. When I finally got a message sent, the representative stated that Bresnan had chosen not to carry the carry the games because “if we purchased these games, we would have to do a rate increase to all of our customers to cover the expensive (sic) for these games and we chose not to do that because of the times we are in.”
Business practices like this are ridiculous. I realize that there are cost cutting initiatives that have to be made right now, but so many companies are doing things that are making loyal customers question why they do business with that company. With the satellite competition that is out there, I would think cable companies would be doing whatever it takes to keep customers.
I saw an article in the Grand Junction Sentinel that explained the cost to Bresnan would be less than $2/year. I’d think that the minimal cost would be worth it to Bresnan to keep their cutomers who do want to see all the Rockies games that are available thru FSN. I’d rather deal with Direct TV who cares about its customers and isn’t passing any costs along.
What I love about the cable set up is the cable industry gets legislation passed concerning local TV channels that a Direct TV or Dish can carry. For instance in the Cheyenne area we cannot get the Denver stations on Dish or DirecTV. We, instead, get stations from Casper and Scottsbluff and Rapid City. I get the feeling from looking at legislation that the law is designed to protect cable operators, who are allowed to show the Denver stations in the Cheyenne area, and therefore can use that to try and convince consumers that there is a better package on cable. All of that is fine, but where I live, Bresnan refuses to provide cable. So I have to live with legislation passed to protect Bresnan but Bresnan does not live up to its end of the bargain by providing service to me.
Just gave me more motivation to got to Direct TV

I submitted one and I would suggest others do as well. It is the only way to make Bresnan somewhat accountable for what they are doing.
Well here we are. IT’s the Home Opener and we still won’t get to watch the Rockies. I am so frustrated with Bresnan. I think I’m just going to switch to Direct TV since clearly Bresnan is not concerned w/ its customers!
Tracy – About the 26 games not available on FSN previously:
The 26 games that were shown on the local Denver station instead of FSN Rocky Mountain in previous seasons did not include both the season and home openers. They were also more evenly distributed throughout the season, not all during the opening 2 months. FSN has tagged a different group of games for the minor surcharge. This makes Bresnan’s stupidity inexcusable for fans expecting their first looks at the ‘09 Rockies.
If Bresnan’s leadership didn’t anticipate this reaction knowing they would be denying both openers to all their cable customers in Wyoming, Montana and rural Colorado, then they are indeed morons. You don’t deny baseball fans their teams’ openers like that. Kick ‘em while they’re down and black out almost the first two months as well? Yep. Don’t worry. Games will be back on TV when school is out everyone wants to get outdoors. Great!
No one with any sense whatsoever was present when the list of games was evaluated. Apparently they believed that customers wouldn’t notice or care that the most anticipated baseball games since October aren’t available to them. Or the second most…etc. And with no fair warning? Wow.
For those of whom Bresnan is the only option, let ‘em have it, because it’s evident that they don’t know what they are doing. I know they have reversed this decision, but everyone else should really consider switching to DirecTV. None of this junk will affect you again. I have been a very satisfied customer for a long time. You are even better off if you live where they offer local channels. Thank you.
Loved your insight!! For once someone got everything correct!! Would you mind if I put a blogroll link back to your post?
Please go ahead and supply the link. It would be appreciated.
