Guz, doesn't hurt to look. He's a veteran guy. He comes at no expense. And if he does look good at Colorado Springs, remember that ballpark makes Coors Field look like San Diego's Petco Park.

Cowboy, would it really be a good idea to bring Gaudin in, even if he is brought in and looks good in CS? His flyball tendencies, plus the walks, are a little alarming to me. Not sure he would be worth the risk pitching at Coors.

That's why the Rockies had no interest in trading for him, but if he wants to go to Triple-A and get stretched out to see if he can start again it's worth a gamble, particularly when you consider the Cubs would be paying the salary if he is not at the big-league level. And then if he does get called up the Rockies would be responsbile for only a pro-rated portion of the minimum salary, and the Cubs are on the hook for the remainder of the $2 million.

Gaudin is just further proof that a club should always be wary of trading for pitchers from Billy Beane. I hope Street is a Haren, instead of a Mulder/Gaudin/Zito/Greg Smith?. Beane always seems to know when he's used up a pitcher and it's time to get something for him. I fully expect Hardin to break down for the Cubs this year.

If Street continues to perform like he did last night, he can help buck the trend. He and Corpas will be a great tandem.
