Throw strikes and get guys out and there is nothing to worry about. AAA is the place to practice working out of jams and gaining confidence - not up here where the difference between post season and a vacation will probably be a couple of games Matt

Gaudin was involved in the Rich Harden deal from Oakland if I am not mistaken...He is no Greg Maddux, but he is good, and if we can get him for the minimum...why not?? This doesn't bode well for the younger pitchers who need to learn how to work their way out of trouble consistently over a bunch of starts. I think that for younger guys, it helps having the confidence from you pitching coach that just because you had a couple bad games, you won't be sent down to AAA. It also seems to help the overall defense if there are only a handful of pitchers you know will be starting. Tulo and Barmes/Stewie/Baker probably know a bit better where pitches will end up, or balls in play, coming from Cook and Jimenez than Smith, Hirsch and Belisle. We wasted FAR too many starts on the likes of Redman and de los Santos last year. To me, that in itself showed that the front office wasn't as serious about winning last year. There are far better options this year. Some may pan out, some won't, but the competition will keep all of them focused. I agree with the others that you cannot have too much pitching.
