Right-hander Mark Melancon continues to dominate in the minor leagues. With the shaky Yankee pitching staff, the Golden High School alum could get a promotion before too long.
Drafted out of the University of Arizona in the ninth round of 2006, Melancon has bounced back from reconstructive right elbow surgery impressively.
He is 10-2 witha 2.05 earned-run average in 55 minor league appearances. He has worked 110 2/3 innings, striking out 111 and walking only 27.
He opened this season at Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre and is 2-0 in five appearances. Unscored upon in nine innings, he has given up two hits and three walks, and struck out 15.

For the amount of bad weather that Colorado gets, we sure have been producing our fair share of good baseball players in the last few years. Halladay, Lidge, Kouzmanoff, Bard, even Darnell McDonald is getting some time with the Reds.
Tracy,
There was a kid from Thunder Ridge High School named Sean Thompson, a hard throwing lefty. Do you know what happened to him? Is he still floating around the minors?
