–The Rockies are 1-14 in games where their opponent scores first and 0-14 in games where they have trailed after seven innings. They are 1-3 in games decided by two runs in addition to being 0-8 in one-run games.
–Jorge De La Rosa‘s 12 strikeouts, including 10 swinging, were a career-high, topping his previous best of 10 on June 19, 2008, against the Indians. The last time a Rockies pitcher struck out 12 in a game was when John Thomson notched that many on Oct. 7, 2001, at San Diego.
–Todd Helton went 0-for-4 to end his 11-game hitting streak. He went 20-for-42 during the streak with three doubles, two homers, eight RBI and six runs scored. Helton’s 11-game hitting streak was the 23rd hitting streak of 10 or more games by Helton. He fell a game short of matching his season-high 12-game hitting streak last season from May 25-June 6.
–Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4, giving him consecutive two-hit games and his fourth multi-hit game of the season. His RBI on a ground out in the eighth gave Tulowitzki six RBI in his past six games after going without an RBI in his previous 17 games.
–Jason Grilli gave up a run in the ninth, ending a scoreless streak of 8 2/3 innings. Grilli, who made his 14th appearance, had not allowed a run since the first inning of his two-inning outing April 6 at Arizona in the Rockies first game of the season.
–Brad Hawpe extended his on-base steak during games started to 13. He went 2-for-4 for his second straight multi-hit game and fourth in his past five games and extended his hitting streak to five games (9-for-20). Hawpe’s average is .337, the same as Helton’s.
–Dexter Fowler, who figures to be back in center field and hitting leadoff Sunday, pinch hit a single in the eighth, his second hit in three pinch-hit at-bats. Seth Smith, who batted first for the second straight game, went 2-for-4, giving him three hits in seven at-bats with two walks while batting first the past two games.
–Triple-A Colorado Springs OF Carlos Gonzalez and low Class A Asheville LHP Christian Friedrich were named the organization’s minor league player and pitcher of the month for April. Gonzalez hit .325 (25-for-77) during the month with six doubles, five triples, two homers and 27 RBI. Friedrich went 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA in four starts.
