  • The Rockies allowed 10 runs in the seventh inning, the most they allowed in a single inning all season. They allowed seven runs in the fifth inning to the Dodgers on April 19.
  • Nate McLouth’s home run in the third inning was the first home run allowed by Ubaldo Jimenez all season.
  • The Rockies have lost four games this season when leading by three or more runs. Two of those games were back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday to the Pirates.
  • The last time the Pirates scored 10 runs in an inning was at St. Louis on Aug. 20, 2003, in the fifth. The last time the Rockies yielded this many runs in an inning was last season on April 26 at Los Angeles when Mark Redman gave up 10 runs in the first inning in an 11-3 loss to the Dodgers.
  • Matt Daley left the game in the seventh inning when he turned his left ankle on a bat kicked aside by home plate umpire Bill Welke while running to back up home plate.
  • The Rockies start a four-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Jason Marquis will face Derek Lowe in the opener. Lowe originally was not scheduled to face the Rockies, but the Braves were rained out Sunday.

The Daley thing was real tough luck. The ump kicked the bat out of the way of plate, anticipating the runner coming home, and the bat went right under Daley’s foot.

I guess the good news is that it can’t really get any worse than it was this afternoon.

I guess the question for me:
What the heck is going on with this team?
Ten runs in an inning? Blowing a late lead?
These are not problems changing the manager will fix. These are on-field problems that the players, only, can address.
I’m not baseball brain, but something is catty-wacker here. It goes beyond stats, venue, bad ump calls …
I want to get behind the Rocks,
But … what the heck is going on with this team?

This for me is prolly the worst baseball I have seen the Rox play. They have had some bad records but this is horrible. Atkins shouldn’t be on the field. I’m more tired of watching his fielding blunders than his hitting. And his hitting is horrible. That play in the 10 run 7th when there was a hit to center and Spilly throws to Atkins(who was playing first and was the cutoff man)and Atkins lets it go instead of cutting it off. Then the ball hits the mound and bounces right over Torrealba’s head and allows the go-ahead run at the time to go to 2nd. Bad break in a way but cut the darn ball off. There was no chance at home and it would’ve kept the runner at 1st. Not that it mattered cuz they gave up like 6 more runs after that but those are the type of plays he makes on a daily basis it seems like. Sit him down, I don’t care what his track record says!

The Rockies have been hard to watch this year. Now I can hardly stand to listen on the radio! The cringe factor is getty pretty high. Worst of all, we’re not playing good teams!

It’s nice to see the starters coming around, but the bullpen is godawful. Must be very disheartening to the team.
