Hawpe has earned my All-star vote.

All-star picks can be so odd. However, Hawpe is most deserving thus far and his numbers are so good I think he gets picked. He might even end up the Rockies' lone representative, though Helton and Iannetta merit consideration. Helton's BA could stay high and that tends to attract a lot of attention. Iannetta will be hurt by his, and also by sharing PT with Torrealba. Tulo could be a candidate if his bat stays hot, but he'll be hurt by his low avg, too.

Anyway, lotta baseball to be played before we get there.

I think Fowler makes Hawpe a much better outfielder. I'm sure his range allows Hawpe to cheat towards the line. All things being equal, Hawpe has earned my All-star vote.

Since the Rockies brought up Peralta to replace Daley, who leaves the 40 man roster?

Would it be Register or Mattheus?

Hawpe is not a very good outfielder. That play definitely should be made by a big league outfielder. I'm an also ran but yet I would expect to make that play. He does have a great arm and his bat has been awesome this year so I don't want to complain too much, but please don't hit him flyballs that he has to move to get. With that being said though, I think he has tremendous value to this team and would hate for him to be traded. You got to have a soft spot in your heart for a guy that looks as goofy as he does but yet still produces with his bat! LOL.

Rockies need to make a change at the top. It's is not Clint's fault that the bullpen blew this game, but it is just another symptom of a greater malaise. It just seems like nothing he does is going right; sometimes it's a bad decision and sometime it's the players fault. But, they just need to make a change. I have written before that they are in danger of being out of the race by the end of May. There is no turnaround in the near future with current leadership in place. Atkins is killing them in the middle of the line-up, which again, is not Clint's fault. But, changes need to be made.

Overall, Daley had been very impressive this season. He had a 1.04 ERA going into the game. Sunday was a bad day all around for the guy. When he comes back, we'll see if the last couple weeks has been for real or just a great run for a guy who had been a fringe prospect until recently.

Daley not the big Rocky problem. He is young and has upside potential. Perhaps they don't even have a big problem. I buy in to developing younger affordable players in lieu of paying out the big bucks for the bigger names. You can tweak the position guys here and there but they have a lot of overall talent. The old adage holds true. "You go as far as your pitching will take you". If you want to turn the Rockies into a plus team from a minus team you need to get smarter, luckier or whatever when you put together the pitching staff. I vote for smarter. Our track record on how pitching is handled does not reflect well on Apodaca and others making the pitching decisions.

Daley's been a nice surprise, although he'd almost certainly pitched over his head during his first half dozen appearances or so. I like his ability to throw strikes, but the whole thing started today with a very foolish walk of the leadoff hitter. Not how you'd like to hold a 2-run lead, particularly against a very weak offensive team. Although you'd never know that from the bottom of the 7th today ...

I saw Daley last spring in Tucson, and he's not the kind of guy that will necessarily capture your attention with one appearance. But he has surprising velocity with that arm angle (just a shade below Corpas) and has a decent history of getting strikeouts in the minors.

PF-I agree. Daley had been interesting...decent movement on his pitches, and likely a bit of a deceptive motion with the crouch and his body turned away from the batter.
