Good insight Greg. I like Q's abilities with the glove and his contact bat off the bench, but perhaps he will be the odd man out.

I personally hope they don't bring up Gonzalez until they can play him everyday. Let him continue to play well in AAA and continue to gain confidence. Playing every third day in the bigs isn't smart in my opinion.

Karl,

It also seems possible that they will consider designating Omar Quintanilla for assignment upon Baker's return. Q made the team to ensure that we would have solid depth at the middle infield positions, specifically shortstop, as both Ian Stewart and Baker can play 2B.

A month and a half into the season, we have now seen for certain that Q's presence on the team is not necessary, especially with Eric Young Jr. knocking on the door. If anything went wrong with Tulowitzki, we'd have him available and on the roster and ready to go if needed. As it stands now, Tulo + Barmes/Stewart/Baker seems good enough to justify this move.

As far as I know, at this point there is no solid timetable for Baker. I doubt they'd want to freely toss him on the 60 Day DL until they are certain he is not going to be ready.

I am probably beating a dead horse with regards to all of the decisions the Rockies have looming, because really in Baseball, they 'loom' all the time...but, my point is, I wouldn't be surprised if they outright release Baker when healthy to clear another roster spot for Carlos Gonzalez or another pitcher when available. Murton has done fine in his place right now.

He seems to have the injury bug quite a bit and has never found the niche with Hurdle. But then again maybe they will move him to the 60 day DL to let that decision go for awhile longer before their hand is forced.

With the problems that Jeff Baker is having I thought they might move him to the 60 day DL to clear a spot for Peralta. Is Jeff doing better since his last set back?
