Morales Ready For Hitters
Left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales is ready to face hitters in his rehabilitation from a strained left shoulder. Manager Clint Hurdle said Morales will work in a simulated game against Rockies hitters on Wednesday afternoon.
Morales opened the season with a win at Arizona in the third game of the season, allowing one run in six innings. He was sent down after that game so he could stay sharp because he was going to wait 13 days between starts. He worked six shutout innings in a start for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Morales was activated April 21, but in warming up for the third inning of a start against Arizona the shoulder strain became noticeable and he was removed from the game.
Hurdle said Morales will be re-evaluated after the simulated game, and will eventually be sent on a rehab assignment. Hurdle said once Morales is healthy he will be considered for a spot in the rotation, not the bullpen.
