Hawpe Sidelined

May 26, 2009 | 5:10 pm 2
By Tracy Ringolsby

Right fielder Brad Hawpe, who has emerged along with Todd Helton as the two mainstays in the Rockies lineup, was out of the lineup Tuesday because of a strained groin.

Hawpe was removed from Monday’s game in the top of the seventh inning because of the injury. With the Rockies off on Thursday it wouldn’t be surprising if Hawpe was out the lineup on Wednesday, as well. That would give him three full days to rest the injury.

Manager Clint Hurdle did indicate that Hawpe might be available in a pinch-hit role.

Matt Murton was in the lineup in place of Hawpe. Murton started in left field on Tuesday with Ryan Spilborghs moving to right.

I really hate talking bad bout this guy but his OF defense is so horrible. Can we get the DH in the National League so he can be our DH? If it’s not a lazy fly ball right at him, the Hawpster isn’t catchin it! He can’t come in on a ball, he can’t go back on a ball! His lateral range is limited to 3 steps it seems like as well! But hey, his arm really comes in handy every 15 games or so. LOL. I definitely will miss his bat in the lineup the next couple of days, but at least I won’t have to look at his butt as he’s running towards the OF wall after missing a ball hit his way. And I’m kidding about the DH thing too, I dislike the DH very much!! Go National League!!! Unless ur the Royals, I like them!

The Rocks said it is imperative they get off to a fast start this year. So far they have the 2nd worst record in baseball.I have been
to 5 games this year.I went yesterday and they scored 1 run otherwise it was a joke. Lack of hussle after a missed flyball they oould have gotton the runner at second. The players have no motivation and have under achieved. Hurdle is a below 500 manager for years, except for 3 weeks in 07. There is talent on this team but it is obvious that Hurdle can’t motivate his players. It is shocking that he is still here. By keeping him it is like stating They don’t care. Well if they don’t I dont..
