The Colorado Rockies will add Colorado Springs Sky Sox manager Tom Runnells, a former major league manager, to their staff as bench coach. He replaces Jim Tracy, who was promoted to interim manager Friday after the team fired Clint Hurdle.

Think Tulo will be in the two hole tonite? We will see.

My first thought as well. I would say they would keep him there through the weekend and if that doesnt change they would put Seth Smith back there and slide Tulo to 7th or even 8th.

I don’t know about Seth but Clint, Omar, or even Todd could do a better job in the two hole. Todd however is slowing down and bunting is not in his vocabulary.

congratulations to Tom Runnells, he has put in a lot of long hard hours down at the Skysox and deserves this opertunity.

Do we know who takes over for Runnells in the Springs and is he the bench coach or does Don assume those responsibilities?

Got it – I shouldn’t be so lazy

Runnells is the new bench coach and the SkySox manager is TBD

I would slid Tulo to 8th spot so he can turn over the pitcher’s spot. He is batting ok without runners on. He is just not doing well with runners on. That would get his confidence back. Make small strides rather than look for one big thing.

Tracy R., you publicly stated (on radio) over two years ago that the Rockies had a gem of a pitching coach at the Springs in Bob McClure that deserved to replace Apodaca. Boy were you right, and the Royals gain is our pain. Now what would you think of Clint Hurdle eventually replacing Trey Hillman in KC?

I’d hit Tulo 2nd….on the Sky Sox roster.

I definitely think Smith needs to play more. I didn’t like the idea of him getting playing time after the Holliday trade but he has produced so well this season. And has produced really well in the PH role in years past. Trade Hawpe! He has tremendous value right now, therefore bringing back the best talent package. We aren’t going anywhere so why not? That would allow Dex to continue to play and develop and see what Smith can do full time against lefties and righties. Spilly I think has reached his potential. He would be a great 4th OF, but a marginal starter. Trading Hawpe would also bring the possibility of bringing up Gonzalez and seeing what he can do. Atkins needs to be traded for a bag of balls and let Stewart play everyday. Time to rebuild……AGAIN…..STILL….and see what we got. Save some money to hopefully spend on some players after the 2010 season. Street should be traded too, only cuz he has value and not cuz I don’t like him. This team isn’t going anywhere anytime fast so why don’t we start over. And I feel sorry for Helton. This guy has been great for the Rox, and we have rewarded him with one winning season. I wish in a small way we would trade him to a contender just so he can try and get a ring somewhere. I love that guy but feel sorry for him that he plays on a loser. I don’t know what the answers are, I just hope they figure it out cuz 07 was so much fun and I crave to have that feeling again.

Tulo should be hitting 2nd on the Sky Sox. I agree with Joseph.

Atkins should be in AAA right now to work things out. You can’t tell me that he couldn’t come up with a “hand injury” or something that could get him down there on a rehab assignment.

Fowler should have started down there. You think Hurdle made THAT decision?

Ubaldo should also be there with some “shoulder stiffness” making a couple of rehab starts.

Hurdle is not the problem. The fact that the Rockies cannot manage the players properly due to union rules is the problem.

Tell me, please, why a bunch of guys that make $300k+ as a MIN. need a union??
