Elbow Soreness Sidelines Friedrich
Modesto left-hander Christian Friedrich underwent an MRI exam Friday on his sore left elbow and missed his second scheduled start Saturday for the high Class A club as the Rockies await the results of that exam.
Friedrich, the Rockies first-round pick in the 2008 draft, last pitched June 10. He’s 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in three starts for the Nuts after beginning the season at low Class A Asheville and going 3-3 with a 2.18 ERA in eight starts for the Tourists.
In other minor league news, Double-A Tulsa pitcher Samuel Deduno, who is on the disabled list with a strained left oblique, had a 45-pitch bullpen session Friday and felt fine. He was scheduled to do some light tossing Saturday and on Monday throw three or four innings of live batting practice.
Deduno, who last pitched June 6, is 6-2 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts and was named to the North team that will play in the Texas League All-Star Game.
Deduno’s oblique strain is considered much milder than that suffered by Chaz Roe, who pitched Friday for the first time since May 7 and worked five scoreless innings, throwing 42 of 65 pitches for strikes and earning the victory as the Drillers won 1-0. Roe was 85-92 mph with his fastball, averaging 89 mph throwing 27 of 44 for strikes.

I remember Chaz Roe being a very prized pitching prospect for the Rockies..one whom they hoped would get into the starting rotation eventually. After reading he’s come back from his injury well..it could darn well happen.
The Rox are having some injury issues with players this year. Chris Nelson, Francis, Freidrich, Bucholz, now Corpas. Hopefully it stops soon.
