The Rockies open a 10-game homestand on Friday.
Are they primed to make a post-season run?
The Rockies played 46 of their first 78 games on the road, the most of any major league team.
The residual is they have 49 of their final 84 games at Coors Field.

a very winnable july could make for a good season and an opportunity to make a post season run, but the bats need to get hot again. can’t be striking out 10+ times per game.
So on mlbtraderumors.com they are reporting via yahoo sports that Jeff Baker has been traded to the Cubs for a player to be named later. Hope Baker finds his niche, he never seemed to find it here.
How many times since 1993 would we have taken a 5-4 road trip and been overjoyed? The schedule can now work in the Rox’ favor. But we have to defend the castle.
The team has come a long way since early in the season. They gave two good teams (Angels and Dodgers) very competitive series’, and took care of the A’s like they should have. The Rockies need to straighten up and fly right, and return to dominance at Coors Field. This 10 game homestand is perfect to make such a statement.
I’m ready for some July and August games to be meaningful.
Karl, the player to be named later is relief pitcher Alberto Alburquerque. He will go down to Tulsa. He was 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 24 relief appearances for Chicago’s Class A team in Daytona.
Where did you see that Albuquerque is going to Tulsa rather than say, Modesto? (If this guy is any good, he’s gonna need a shorter nickname.)
Heh, never mind re. Albuquerque, now I see.
I am excited for our home stand and the upcoming months because it seems we are playing a favorable schedule compared to the dodgers and we still have 6 games against them 3 at home and 3 away which will be the final 3 games of the year. This story might be even better or at least as good as 2007!
49 home, 35 road? Wow, I didn’t realize it was that skewed. No excuses, boys!
