The All-Star teams are announced Sunday.
Brad Hawpe and Jason Marquis were selected from the Rockies.
Who was slighted? Did the fans do a good job? Were the players any better?
It’s your turn to discuss the decisions.

A popularity contact with Chicago-like election rules.
I meant “contest”.
The selection show is brutal when you just want the list. I’d excuse them a little if they spent time highlighting the lesser known players, but given that Jeter has already been highlighted, I doubt it will happen.
The fans will never do a good job. I just saw Josh Hamilton get in as a starter. Fans who voted, are you kidding?
congrats to hawpe and marquis, as to the last poster, I’m with you.
The voting system is definitely imperfect, but the fact is that the players and managers are just as prone to making sentimental/popularity-based choices as the fans.
Jason Varitek of the Red Sox had a terrible year last year, and his peers inexpicably thought he was deserving of a reserve All-Star spot over several younger guys in his position who were much better.
Ask Ian Kinsler about the voting process, both of fans and players. He gets jobbed for the second year in a row.
And how about the players voting Victor Martinez on the team at catcher, even though he is playing first base. Guess catching doesn’t really have many demands. Can’t wait to watch him catch Tim Wakefield.
Victor Martinez has played about half time at catcher (41 starts). Though I’m sure he still doesn’t want to catch Wakefield.
well, we can certainly tell how you feel about the All Star voting system Mr. Ringolsby.
I really don’t have a problem with the voting system, but I get tired of people beating up the fans when the players are just as out ot touch. Going in to today, Victor Martinez had caught fewer games than he played at first base, and Kelly Shoppach had caught more games for the Indians than Martinez.
So I take it there is obviously no rule for this? Well of course not since there was talk that Manny could have played in the game if he was voted in. Thank God he wasn’t.
Always something to debate and maybe it will promote a rule change for the players having a check against them?
Why would the players need a rule against them?
Manuel picked Howard as the 4th 1st baseman. I think Tracy’s point is *anyone* can make what appears to be a substandard choice. At least now there’s 3 sources, plus a final vote off.
