The Rockies issued the following release Thursday:

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has reinstated right-handed pitcher Manuel Corpas from the 15-day disabled list. In a corresponding roster move, right-handed pitcher Matt Belisle was designated for assignment by the club. Corpas will be in uniform for tonight’s Rockies game at San Diego.

Corpas, 26, is 1-3 with one save and a 5.40 ERA in 33 games for the Rockies this season. He was placed on the disabled list (right elbow bone spurs) on June 20 (retroactive to June 19). Corpas last pitched in the Majors in June, as he tossed on back-to-back days, from June 17-18. He made a total of three appearances for the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox from July 8-12. Despite missing 22 games since the injury occurred, Corpas still ranks 3rd on the Rockies pitching staff in appearances in 2009.

Belisle, 29, was in his second stint with the Rockies, as his contract was purchased from Triple-A Colorado Springs on July 11 when Alan Embree was placed on the disabled list. Belisle has made one appearance since that date, allowing one run in one inning of relief against the Braves on July 11. The right-hander is 1-1 with an 8.35 earned-run average 15 games for the Rockies in 2009.

    Welcome back, Manny.

Are players paid by the game, or day? If the latter, at least Belisle got a few extra days out of the gig.

Thats a good question. I’d be curious to know the answer as well.

Rockies signed Herges to a minor league deal and he will report to Colorado Springs per the Post.
