Young Runs to Record

Eric Young Jr. set the Triple A Colorado Springs Sky Sox single-season record for runs scored in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Young led off the bottom of the first with a single up the middle and moved to second on his 55th stolen base of the season, and 300th of his pro career, before scoring on a Matt Miller triple.

The run was the 107th of the season for Young, breaking the franchise’s single-season record of 106 set by Phil Hiatt in 2000.

Young already had broken the franchise stolen base record of 51 by Wayne Kirby in 1992.

I get the sense from what I have read about him that EY’s defense is his weakness at this point. How bad is his defense? Do the Rockies think that he has the potential to be a decent fielding second baseman?

I would like to see them bring him up in September and just let him be a pinch runner late in games for our slow pokes that get on all the time. LOL. Like Helton. That guy is awesome but man is he slow.

Hopefully he can have as successful career as Phil Hiatt.
