Cook Big Toe No Problem
Rockies right-hander Aaron Cook had a bullpen session on Tuesday and will throw a session again Wednesday in preparation for his Friday start against San Francisco at Coors Field.
Cook struggled on Sunday, when he was making his first start in 10 days. He had been given extra time off because of a sprained right big toe.
Cook said the toe was no problem and does not bother him. The feeling is Cook, a sinkerball pitcher, was too strong and his mechanics got out of whack because of the extra time off. As a result, he wants the extra work between starts.
Reliever Juan Rincon was set to throw two innings on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday. … LHP Jeff Francis, rehabbing from shoulder surgery, threw his second bullpen session of the road trip on Monday. He threw 30 pitches, all fastballs, including 10 pitches out of the stretch. .

it seems to me that Jeff Francis is making some pretty incredible steps in his rehab. It will be good to see him back on the mound for the 09 season. I hope he can get back to his 07 form if not better. This organization has got some pretty serious pitching depth.
Good luck Jeff, keep working hard!
Just reading over this again, I meant back on the mound for the 2010 season, not the 09 season.
Tracy, Wasn’t it Dizzy Dean who ruined his career after changing his pitching motion following an injury to his toe in the All Star game? It appears to me that is what Cook has done. His sinker is up and very hittable. The more he tries to improve the more he falls back. He won’t admit it because he probably doesn’t even know.
