Thanks for further spreading the word, Tracy.
The tide has turned with regard to national interest and media attention. MLB Network has been doing pieces on them, including a great interview with Apodaca, and praising them (altho Harold Reynolds thinks they’re “cheating” because of the humidor – I’d like to hush HIM up!) Sportscenter interviewed Troy Renck this morning, BBTN guys are actually speaking of the Rockies without a dubious tone. Maybe it shouldn’t matter, but it does to me! A team doesn’t do the amazing things and have the amazing numbers they do by accident, and people should recognize that.
Great read.
Just to expand on the attention the Rockies are getting.
MLB Network has led off their highlight shows the last three days with the Rockies highlights. Also, for those outside Denver with MLB Network, they will be carrying the Thursday afternoon Dodger game and the Saturday night Giant game this week.
Also, sports talk radio in Chicago has had a few lengthy discussions about the Rockies. Usually starts with Cubs fans thinking the Cubs can pull off what the Rockies are doing and the local host explaining to them that the Cubs roster is no comparison to the Rockies despite their payroll being double the Rockies.
People out here (Chicago, Milwaukee) are getting very well educated about this Rockies team. It’s nice to hear.
What I find amazing is with the recent rash of injuries, Jim Tracy has kept it all together. The attitude of playing one game at a time is a sign of a veteran ballclub. I thought winning last night’s game was going to be a challenge for a variety of reasons, but they pulled it off. If Cargo can pick up where he left off and Fogg can give them a couple of decent starts, they should be in great shape for the last month. I actually think you have to put them as the favorite to win the division even though most “experts” still keep picking the Dodgers.
I think its kind of funny that Harold Reynolds would call the humidor cheating after he was fired by ESPN for sexual harassment. People like him need to be silenced and not hired by MLB. So shut up
Check this guy, when his walks are down, his strike outs are up! = WINS
