I really like Tracy Ringolsby’s interesting facts and stats and have been checking into this website often. I personally think that Dan O’Dowd has done a great job for the last ten years given the lack of money from the owner’s and hanging in there with all the bad press he gets from our home town sports writers. I know you have to have a thick skin if you are in that business, but I have really enjoyed watching the Denver Post writers eat a little crow now an then. Go Rox!!!

Interesting. Didn’t realize O’Dowd had moved up that high on the list. He’s certainly earned a new contract with this season, too.

I don’t understand dumping Kevin Towers. Overall he’s been a very good GM. The Padres were built to win last year, but everything went wrong. So he took it apart and is building a reasonably decent foundation for the future. And the team really played well in the 2nd half — think 2005 Rockies (if I’m not mistaken, that was the year they started to show life in the 2nd half).

Moorad is bound to ruin all that with some really stupid Eric Byrnes-type signings. Good for us Rockies fans I guess.

And Tracy R., the Blue Jays just fired JP Ricciardi!

I know you’ve had your canned “obituary” of him ready to go for at least a couple years now …

O’Dowd has done an awsome job. No doubt. He’s no dummy. And when he’s made mistakes he’s has always been willing to corect them and try new things, e.g., the humidor, building the team from within, dominican signings, concentrating on pitching, etc.

What really jumped out at me from this list was that Brian Sabean has been the GM of SF since 1976! Sheesh. I would have figured Barry Bonds would have driven him away long ago. Talk about staying power.

I can’t wait to read that obit.

That 1976 date must be a typo. Sabean joined the Giants in 1996.
