I have one more question for you, Tracy. What do you hear about Casey Weather's rehab? When will he be able to pitch in a game? Once he is healthy, at what level do you think he will play (AA, AAA?)

Also, could you or one of your colleagues write an article about how our guys are doing in the Arizona Fall League and in other leagues this fall? Thanks.

Tracy,

Thanks for the info on the 1/6th guarrantee. I originally thought that they made a mistake giving anything to Flores, but with only a small guarrantee at least he is insurance ioption from the left side if they can't get Beimel cheaper or find an alternative.

I happen to think Belise is a good keep based on what he did after returning from the Springs. Kniffin must have gotten through to him mentally, or saw something mechanically that no one caught at the big league level.

Ryan, actually Belisle was a completely different pitcher after working with Chuck Kniffin in Colorado Springs.
The key to signing them was if they didn't want to fit into the payroll structure where the Rockies were comfortable with them, the Rockies would have left them off the 40-man roster. They sigend and the Rockies move on. Remember only 1/6th of the contracts are guaranteed so if the Rockies were to decide they have better options they can relase them.

Thanks for that information. Those salary amounts seem reasonable. I know that the Rockies are trying to maintain an overall payroll level, and those salary amounts should fit in with that overall payroll level. I thought that Belisle did a good job in relief and I think that he can also handle the long relief role. Flores was more erratic in his performance, but the Rockies certainly didn't break the bank to sign him. Might the Rockies add a third lefy reliever if the opportunity arises? BTW, have the Rockies decided that Morales' future is as a reliever, or would they convert him back to being a starter if something happened to one of the current starters?

"Do you know what the salary amounts are for them?"

It's being reported as $850,000 for Belisle, with up to $475,000 in incentives, and $650,000 for Flores with $100,000 in incentives.

So, together they're likely to make less than Beimel did in 2009.

What do you hear about how rehab is going for Buchholz, Corpas, and Greg Smith? When will each of them be ready to pitch for the Rockies?

How expensive is Beimel that it's worth it to keep Flores instead? The Rockies just committed to their two worst relievers - why? Guys of that quality grown on trees.

I was at the game a few years ago that Omar hit the walk off HR. Maybe the least probable thing I ever witnessed while at a game. LOL. He was a fairly steady player in 2008 during those injuries to Tulo and Barmes too. Unfortunately for him (and I suppose fortunately for the Rockies) he simply wasn't needed in 09. Now EYJr is ready and that means so long Omar.
