Quintanilla to miss four weeks

Infielder Omar Quintanilla said an MRI exam Thursday revealed he has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will be out four weeks.
He was injured playing shortstop Tuesday against the White Sox in Glendale, Ariz. Quintanilla took a high throw from second baseman Eric Young Jr. and was taken out by the runner. In nine spring games, Quintanilla hit .375 (6-for-16) with two RBI.
The Rockies took Quintanilla off their 40-man roster following the 2009 season, and he seemed destined to begin this season at Triple-A Colorado Springs as long as he was in the Rockies organization.
“It doesn’t matter where I was going to be,” Quintanilla said. “I was just looking forward to starting the season and of course, being in the big leagues somewhere. Bad timing for this to happen. It’s just an obstacle I got to get over, and I’ll be back for sure.”
Quintanilla was limping when came into the Rockies clubhouse in the morning but was on crutches when he returned following the MRI. He said the trainers gave him crutches Wednesday and on Thursday “told me to stay on crutches, stay off the leg.”

Looks like that spells an end for Q in the majors. I never really understood why we always had him on the roster anyway.
He has more heart than anyone that has had the chance to smell the grass! He’s not in it for fame and glory! He’s in it to play ball and that was his dream and look where he’s been/at? He’s been living his dream no matter what he has to do! He was always talked down on because of his size, but because of his heart and dedication to the sport, the Rockies, his family, and his friends he made it to the top! He is one of the few hispanics that has a goal and has reached, and is still, reaching it til this day!
