Brad Hawpe DL; Eric Young, Jr., Called Up
Brad Hapwe tried to play through a nagging quad strain.
It didn’t work.
Sidelined twice already by the injury, Hawpe was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. The Rockies called up second baseman/outfielder Eric Young, Jr.
Young is only hitting .228, but was 10-for-21 with all three of his stolen bases in his last five games. Young will give the Rockies a legitimate speed threat off the bench.
Hawpe has hit .357 with three home runs, seven RBI and a team-high nine doubles.
