With the rainout, FSN is showing the replay of Game 1.
Melvin Mora has some kind of huge mental block about playing 2B. His hands just aren’t doing what his brain wants them to do. It’s really brutal to watch.
I understand why the team wanted a day/night DH, but looking at the weather forecast the past few days, it was clear that the night game was likely to be canceled. Why didn’t they just play a DH starting at 11 AM or noon. They could have gotten both games in.
Are Mora and Tulo available to field tomorrow? Are the Rockies now short one SS/2B, and, if so, what are they going to do?
My guess is that either Tulo or Mora (maybe both) will be available on an emergency basis, so Barmes and Young will likely start the game. Beyond that and I am really stretching now – its Spilly or Phillips to rescue the infield if someone goes down with an injury.
“Why didn’t they just play a DH starting at 11 AM or noon.”
Because if they did that, they wouldn’t have gotten the two gates. A traditional DH halves the take, unfortuantely.
Roster move to bring up Herrara-hold on Hamel?
Look for the makeup game to be Sept 2 (Philly has day off after series in LA).
I would love to see Jonathan Herrara get a shot at replacing Mora. He had a great spring, and has been in the Rox system for a while. He couldn’t do any worse than Mora.
I believe the make up game will be on MON 16 AUG. The Rockies at that point will have their second off day within an eight day period and will have just completed a weekend series with MLW before a trip west to LA & ARIZ. The Phillies at that point in time will be in the midst of 16 games out of 20 games stretch at home having just finished a weekend series at NY before the start of a home series with SF. Philadelphia will also had a previous off day on MON 9 AUG like Colorado, and Colorado has an off day scheduled for THR 26 AUG. Philadelphia will not have an off day following MON 16 AUG until THR 2 SEP. The problem with that THR 2 SEP date is that it would require the Rockies to return to Denver in the middle of a California road swing starting in SF and concluding that following weekend in SD. At any rate, the makeup game is strongly likely to be an afternoon game unless the Phillies end up playing the Mets on Sunday Night MLB on ESPN on SUN 15 August, which is being hinted at currently.
