Do u think this has alot to do w/Betencourts recent recent travails? He may need to go to springs-could they sent him as rehab or does he have to go on DL 1st?Maybe they will have to dl him when Morales, and?or Bucholtz are ready.
Could this have something to do w/Betencourts recent performance[or lack there of] Should be interesting when Morales, and hopefully Bucholtz are ready to return-not much room in the pen.
After last night, Betancourt can’t be far behind (I know he probably doesn’t have options left). I wonder if he is injured or out of sync. Maybe a 15-day DL stay will give him a chance to work out his issues. The Rockies need him this summer.
Our bullpen is so deep (especially once Street, Buchholz, and Morales come back), that we can live without Betancourt. Belisle and Beimel have been fantastic, and Corpas – while I don’t think he looks as dominant as he did in 2007, but that could be a case of rose colored glasses – will be great as the 8th inning guy once Street returns.
Betancourt needs to go on d/l for a bit to get himself straightened out. Remember, he had the same issues last year in Cleveland, went on d/l, came back sharp, got traded and as the saying goes the rest is history.
On another note, Greg Smith did not pitch as badly as the record shows, fielding mishaps (not errors) were a part of this, and I feel he will be back and make a major contribution later.
Betancourt was the hardest hit of that flu bug that went around. He reportedly has lost a lot of weight.
A trip to the DL to get back to full strength makes sense. It made sense when he was sick and couldn’t play for a week too.
Good start for Daley. Bring him in to strike out the opposing pitcher.
