Rockies activate Street, designate Rincon

The Colorado Rockies have activated closer Huston Street, who has yet throw a pitch in the major-leagues this season while battling right shoulder inflammation. Street, who saved 35 games in 2009, will be available for the Rockies’ opener against the Boston Red Sox. Street will eventually work as a closer, but is likely to phased back into the role.

Juan Rincon, who recorded the final outs in Sunday’s 6-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, was designated for assignment to make room on the active roster. Rincon has pitched in two games in two stints with the Rockies’ this season.

It’s about time. I look forward to Huston coming out to the mound in the 9th.

There was a great interview with Street on 104.3 today. Really rooting for him to come back and do well. He really wants to be here and is ready to contribute. Let’s get some runs tonight so we can see him in the 8th with Rox ahead.
