Matzek unhittable for Single-A Asheville
Tyler Matzek, the Colorado Rockies’ first-round pick in 2009, threw 5 2/3 no-hit innings Thursday for the Single-A Asheville Tourists to pick up his first win.
Matzek, who has been working on a strict pitch count since joining the team in May, allowed five walks before being pulled in the sixth innings. The Tourists’ bullpen went on to finish a two-hit shutout of Savannah.
In six games for Asheville this season, Matzek is 1-0 with a 1.84 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings.

Keep it up kid & stay healthy kid.
That’s great! The rockies have done a lot better the last couple of years on both sides of the ball because of dedicated young talent like yourself. We can sure use all the good pitchers we can get. Keep up the good work!
