 PADRES OF LATE

Padres are coming off a road trip to Florida in which they won 5 of 6, 2 of 3 at Tampa and sweeping the Marlins, their first sweep at Florida since 2000. But then Padres have best road record in baseball.

Max Venable has an eight-game hitting streak in which he is 8-for-27 with 4 home runs and 13 RBI. And he has some big home runs. He had game-winning two-run home run both Friday and Sunday in Florida.

Padres bullpen has a 1.81 ERA for the month of June.

Over the long haul, however, this is the Adrian Gonzalez show. Gonzalez is hitting .383 in the month of June with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 21 RBI, and could become first Padre to win a Player of the Month Award since Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn in May of 1997. Consider that Gonzalez is hitting .383 in June and the rest of the Padres are a combined .220.

Five Padres are on the disabled list:

OF Matt Stairs, right knee strain.

RHP Tim Stauffer, appendectomy.

OF Kyle Banks, strained right elbow.

RHP Chris Young, right shoulder tightness.
