Street day-to-day after being injured during BP
Colorado Rockies closer Huston Street suffered a right abdominal contusion and is listed as day-to-day after being hit by a line drive during batting practice.
Thomas Harding of MLB.com first reported via Twitter that Street had been injured by a line drive off the bat of Ian Stewart. Street was taken off the field in an ambulance after he passed out from the pain and taken to a local hospital. During the television broadcast of the Rockies-Pirates game, it was announced he had been released from the hospital and was resting at home.
The Associated Press has more details here.

You’ve got to be kidding me? Street seems to have some bad Karma or something with regard to injuries. Hope he’s OK!
wow, another injury to huston. can’t this guy just catch a break (LOL).
Rockies can’t win for losing, Tulo comes back, Street goes down, if it’s not this it’s that, lol, been a very weird & frustrating year so far.
this stinks. not to blame Stewart but wasnt he also the one that beaned Alana Rizzo?
i still never forgave Matt Lepsis for effectively ending Terrell Davis’ career.
this team seems jinxed. when its not an injury its bad calls from the umpires or something.
ummm…there is only one place to be hit in “the pelvic area” that can make a grown man faint from pain. sure hope he had his cup on. otherwise it could be life-altering for him.
Not that anybody is optimistic right now with the way the rox have been playing, but if Street is out then you can definitely count the Rox out. Their bullpen is already weak.
Matt Lepsis isn’t at fault for ruining TD’s career… That would be the great Brian Griese and the pick he threw. Rotten luck about Street though. I hope isn’t doesn’t impact his life outside baseball and I sure hope he’s back soon…
no more cream pies in the face. no more homeplate dog piles. no more playing catch without a cup on. man, baseball just isn’t what it used to be.
if you took a poll of who you would least like to hit a ball into your groin, Ian Stewart would be the winner.
Son of a…
I mean come on, really, this happens now? Ok guys, deal with the cards you are dealt, but if this doesn’t capture the last two weeks doesn’t it, always a less than full deck, we just don’t seem to have much on our side this year.
Trying to be positive and hope Street is ok.
“Good news” on Street for me. I flipped on the TV to hear FSN talking about it, and I had assumed Street was hit in the head. No fun to be hit in the groin (and it can be serious) but it shouldn’t be anything life threatening.
In case you were wondering, a “contusion” is a bruise.
I hope he’s back soon. But I also hope the Rockies need a closer some time in the near future. I just saw the end of the 4-2 loss to the Pirates and this team is playing UGLY!
The Rockies won’t need a closer til the later part of August anyway.
Anyone else get the feeling that anything good for this season just isn’t in the cards/stars/karma/fate.
