Reynolds solid in first AFL start

Greg Reynolds allowed four hits and a run in three innings in his first Arizona Fall League start in the Scottsdale Scorpions’ 5-1 loss to Phoenix on Thursday. The Colorado Rockies’ former first-round pick walked one, struck out one and recorded his other eight outs with groundballs, but took the loss.

Reliever Rex Brothers also made his AFL debut in the fifth inning. He allowed three hits and a run and struck out one.

Shortstop Thomas Field and outfielder Charlie Blackmon made their second appearances. Field was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Blackmon was 0-for-4 and scored a run.
