Rockies sign Amezaga to minor-league deal
The Colorado Rockies announced on their Twitter feed that the team has signed to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training.
Amezaga, who played two games with the Rockies in 2005, spent 2006-09 with the Florida Marlins, the first three years as a semi-regular in the lineup playing all infield and outfield positions. While he has experience all over the diamond, he has played primarily second base, shortstop and center field during his career.
The switch-hitter played briefly in the Los Angeles Dodgers minor-league system in 2010. He will compete for a utility job with the Rockies.
