Ken Rosenthal at FoxSports.com reports that the Colorado Rockies are continuing to shop for depth as the start of spring nears. On the shopping list, according to Rosenthal:

  • Starting rotation depth with Dave Bush and Rodrigo Lopez possibilites.
  • Left-handed bullpen help if the Rockies could land someone like Joe Beimel or Mark Hendrickson on minor-league deals.
  • Infield help with Christian Guzman, Alfredo Azemaga and former Rockie Aaron Miles on the list.

Rosenthal also repeats what he reported Tuesday, that the Rockies remain interested in Rangers infielder Michael Young but that money remains an obstacle if the Young becomes available. Read more here.

Is Rodrigo Lopez the only possibility since Dave Bush has signed a minor league contract with the Rangers?

Haven’t heard of the Rockies involved with anyone other than these two. This is just insurance, so even if Lopez signs elsewhere it’s not as if the Rockies are losing out on a prime target. With Paulino, Greg Reynolds, Rogers and Mortsenon, Rockies have a lot of insurance for the rotation and long man out of the pen.
