Chacin, Rogers lead Rockies to second spring win
The Colorado Rockies topped the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Monday at Salt River Fields to pick up their second spring win. Some highlights:
- Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin pitched two scoreless innings and recorded one strikeout.
- He was followed by Esmil Rogers who gave up a hit and struck out one.
- Matt Belisle pitched a scoreless inning of relief and struck out two.
- Rockies hitters came to the plate 41 times and only struck out twice.
- Jonathan Herrera tripled and walked.

44,972 minutes to first pitch. Like a kid waiting for Christmas, it’s taken forever.
Didn’t Johnny have a fine spring last year too? He’s off to another one. He might make it hard to keep on the bench.
Chacin The Machine … sounds good to me.
Johnny’s a ballplayer. Nothing flashy, just a solid ballplayer in the mold of a Counsel or an Eckstein. He’s certainly good enough to be the starter at 2B and earn his 400K.
He’s still young, but with the way he finished 2010 and the early reports on him so far, Chacin could be a real stud. IF, yes big IF, he, Ubaldo, and DLR stay healthy, that is a top 3 that is among the best in the major leagues. On Herrera sticking, I would love to see him make it. I think he offers more versatility than EY2 and more consistency than Nelson.
