Can Anyone Help

Just moved to Omaha and signed up for Dish Network after they told me I could get FNS (now of course Root Sports) to watch Rockies games. However both games have been black out here. Any idea of why this is and if there is another solution to getting games? I hate having to just get score updates. Thanks.

I wonder if MLB.tv would work for you? Here in denver Rox games are blacked out on MLB.tv but I bet you’re far enough out of the area that you’d get the games.

We did something similar last year. Your only hope is MLB extra innings. Games will always be blacked out–you will sometimes get Post Game shows and Double Play the next day. It’s MLB rules.

I looked at the Dish Network site online and they are not carrying the MLB Extra Innings package. Your best bet is to drop Dish, sign up with DirecTV and get the baseball package. If you live in Omaha I’m sure you will not be blacked out of any Rockies’ games.

I live in the Denver area and the only thing that is blacked out is the telecast of the other team that’s playing the Rockies. Tonight, for instance, the Arizona station carrying thr D-backs’ telecast was blacked out.

    Good luck.

DirectTV’s Extra Innings is the way to go. The only time you will miss a game is if a Saturday game is at the same time as a Fox National Telecast which is why the Rockies play so many Saturday night games.

By the way for about $15 for the year you can subscribe to MLB baseball’s radio broadcast and can get any game live from any team. Frankly I like KOA’s radio broadcast alot better than the TV package. Goodman and Frazier and to a lesser extent Huson are decent but to me Alana Rizzo’s stuff during the game and Marc Stout and Tom Helmer’s cheer leading after the game is bush. And I know at least Stout is an occasional poster here. But it’s just not professional. The only reason I watch at all is for Tracy Ringlesby insights and Jim Tracy’s comments. Of course I’m in my mid-60′s and I’m not the target audience.

I am also out of market and have all Rockies games blacked out. I’m down here in Tulsa, home of the Rockies Double A Tulsa Drillers. I like to follow the former Drillers, like Ubaldo and Tulo and company. So it is frustrating, trying to get Rockies games, especially since I also use DISH and they don’t carry MLB Extra Innings and I hate DirecTV ever since they treated me poorly on customer support.

Rockies Double Play has always been available shortly after games or the following game. However, for some off reason, Double Play is suddenly BLACKED OUT this season! It never has been blacked out before. This development of them blacking out double play, is very concerning. I, however, subscribe to MLB Broadband and get all games over my internet. I have my TV wired to my PC, so I watch them on my TV. I’ve used this service since it came out several seasons ago and it is very nice. It is also much cheaper, than the DirecTV package they are telling you to get.

I say stay with DISH and order MLB Broadband package and save some money! Figure out a way to hook your TV to your PC, or just watch on your PC. It’s only $120 for the season.

As for Blacking out Rockies Double Play for out of market viewers… SHAME ON YOU GUYS!

Sorry to hear the games are blacked out down there. Not sure why that would happen. You could always contact ROOT Sports directly to learn more. InsideTheRockies.com has no affiliation with ROOT Sports, so we are unable to do anything to remedy the situation.

I went to ROOT sports website and tried to do something about this and couldn’t find what to do. I do wish they would stop blacking out Rockies Double Play, because they have never blacked Double Play for out of market viewers, until this season. It’s not good for developing and expanding the franchise’s fanbase, to cut off out-of-market viewers from Rockies Double Play.

The main reason I posted here, was to let the people using DISH know, they don’t have to drop DISH and switch to DirecTV, they can order MOB Extra Innings Broadband over the internet and get a reduced price in the process. I like the service very much.
