I hope Stewart can handle a knuckleballer since I think Dickey is starting the first game for the Mets. Should be interesting.

I hope they ALL can handle a knuckleballer.

Is it me or do umpires keep getting worse every year?

Terrible call when Morales clearly tapped 1st a full second before the runner, who then stepped on his ankle, causing an injury. Thankfully, there’s a whole lotta Rocky hitting going on in this first game.

MLB noted the 1st base Ump was a 3A callup for this double header cuz home plate only calls one game, hence needing a sub. Still a lousy call – the 3A umps are way better than that call usually.

It’s like the umpteenth time that a Huston Street issued walk precedes a HR. Next time he walks somebody, bring in a new pitcher.

WOW! I think I’m just now starting to breathe again! Let’s not do that again please.

Anyone gonna chat for the second game?

  • progmatinee | April 14, 2011 | 1:38 pm

man…i’m here at work listening to the NY announcers and its not any easier to listen to tight games than it is to watch.

I won’t be able to do any chatting; with the back end of bullpen (Street, Lindstrom, and Belisle) throwing so many pitches and Franklin Morales probably out with an injury, JDLR is going have to step up and toss a complete game. Betancourt and M Reynolds are just about the only ones fresh and available for the second game. If we need more innings, won’t hurt to have Greg Reynolds pitch in the second game as he’s likely to be sent back when UJ comes back. Daley is probably driving to Denver from Springs as I type to replace Morales (if he goes on DL).

OMG. If they blew that one, the loss should have been credited to Jim Tracy. Street’s workload had more than earned him at least one day off. Tracy had no business running him out there again to close. Then why leave him in there so long when it was clear he had nothing?

At least have Lindstrom warmed up and ready at the start of the inning. C’mon Jim, you’re supposed to be a smarter-than-the-average-bear manager.
