Rockies lineup: Helton at No. 3

April 30, 2011 | 3:03 pm | 9

Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy is shaking up the lineup at a bit Saturday after being shut out on five hits Friday night. Tracy said he switched spots in the order for Todd Helton and Carlos Gonzalez, batting Helton third and Gonzalez fifth “just to give him a little bit of a different change of scenery, if you will, for a day or so. How’s it going to turn out? I don’t know.” With a bunt single in the ninth Friday, Gonzalez broke a 0-for-25 drought.
The lineup:

CF Dexter Fowler
2B Jonathan Herrera
1B Todd Helton
SS Troy Tulowitzki
LF Carlos Gonzalez
3B Jose Lopez
RF Seth Smith
C Chris Iannetta
SP Jason Hammel

This might be just the beginning of more ‘shaking’ to come.

It’s about time they bat Helton 3rd. He’s having an excellent year. He can hit with his eyes closed.

There goes the conversation between Drew and George that they would NEVER move carGo out of the third spot.

Drew and George (and Alana) were more interested in talking about food and acting like clowns last night. When they said “no way would Cargo be moved”, I told my wife, of course there is a way. If Cargo continued to slump they would have to move him.

3 out of 4 hitters go the other way and they all get a hit, now that is executing Lansford’s philosophy. Nicely done.

He must, because a “great baseball mind”,aka.ME,suggested this in a post just last night! I think the double puts Todd just 2 behind Lou Gehrig!

I know you should not mess with a live ball, but the dude that grab the double by Helton was a Helton fan and I think it was worth it to get kicked out of the game to have a ball hit by Helton.
