Ian Stewart is back in the Colorado Rockies starting lineup for the first time since April 16. He will play third base and bat seventh. In another significant change, Carlos Gonzalez and Todd Helton will revert to the spots in the batting order they have occupied most of the season. The Rockies lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Barry Enright:

CF Dexter Fowler
2B Jonathan Herrera
LF Carlos Gonzalez
SS Troy Tulowitzki
1B Todd Helton
RF Seth Smith
3B Ian Stewart
C Chris Iannetta
SP Jhoulys Chacin.

I believe this is the Rockies best lineup and if everybody hits close to where they should hit I think we will be happy in the end result.

I didn’t comment on last night’s game nor I have seen any of the posts except for the little bit I’ve seen in the “Recent Comments” section. I’m sure some people are knocking Stewart because some people are always knocking him. But Stewart was not the only Rockie to strike out that inning. He was throwing gas.

I don’t know if anybody brought it up but Stewart’s at bat was a perfect time to sacrifice and then you would (is successful) have two chances to knock in the lead run from 2nd base. And it didn’t have to be Stewart up there. Once Iannetta got on, Jorge could have bunted or AA could have bunted.

Not sure if anybody has brought that up or if Jim Tracy commented on that.

A few of us did bring it up. Late in tie games, I believe you have to play small ball first, then if you get behind bring in the PHs.

    I love crooked numbers.

This is the lineup I envisioned at the start of the season. Watching the game, it’s been a good lineup so far. (bottom 7, Rocks up 7-2)
