I wonder if they’re close to recalling Stewart (he didn’t play last night). Unless he’s still injured, I think it’s time to bring him up and see what happens.
Where would Stewart play…Rox are set all around the infield.
My idea is that Stewart would play at 3rd, spelled by Wigginton on occasion (strong lefty starters). I think that’s his role on this team and Wigginton will backup at 1st and 3rd. Stewart offers our best defensive option at 3rd; Wigginton is a great guy, but not a starter on a contending team. He’s a great piece of a puzzle. We need a starting 3rd baseman.
Tru dat Thistle. I am really hoping Stew gets a chance and redeems himself
And what exactly makes you think that Stewart is a MLB starting third baseman? I read on another post that Stewart’s hitting stats rank dead last out 64 possible MLB third basemen – there is NO defense for that.
Did you guys see the info Ken Rosenthal had today??? He says if the Rockies sell Huston Street, Ty Wigginton, and Aaron Cook are trade chips (I hope they dont sell). But if they buy they would be likely after guys like Hiroki Kuroda, or Kevin Slowey? Why would we go after those guys?

The Rocks won’t trade for one of those pitchers. They have Mortensen and Reynolds to fill in and would go that route, looking for bats instead. If they were sellers, and I don’t think they will be, Street might be available as they have Brothers for next year. Cook would be available. Not sure Wiggington would unless they have confidence in a 1st baseman in the minors. Not sure Wiggington would bring as much as the insurance for Helton’s back that he provides.
If Colo. sells, I’d make Cook, Belisle, Street, Lindstrom and maybe EY available (if he doesn’t hit soon). I’d even throw Hammel in there maybe. The objective, bring back one outstanding prospect, pitcher or hitter. I know the Yankees might love to have Belisle and Lindstrom for their pen and Cookie or Hammel at the back end of the rotation. Maybe ask for Bentances and Phelps in return.
