Tulowitzki selected for All-Star team; Helton in final vote

Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowtizki, who led the voting among National League shortstops in every voting update over the past month, was passed in theĀ  final week by the New York Mets’ Jose Reyes. Tulowitzki, was selected as a reserve by the players.

Tulowitzki is hitting .273 with 17 home runs and 57 RBI, while Reyes is hitting .354 and leads the National League in batting average, runs, hits and triples.

Tulowitzki was the lone Rockies selected for the team, but Todd Helton is one of five National Players included in a final vote by the fans. Helton, who is hitting .323 with nine home runs and 38 RBI, is competing with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier, Arizona Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy, Washington Nationals outfielder Michael Morse and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino for the final spot on the National League roster.
