Rockies farm roundup: Sky Sox rally late
Triple-A Colorado Springs (W, 6-3 at Fresno, box)
The Sky Sox scored three runs in the top of the ninth on an error, a ground-rule double and a wild pitch to take a 6-3 lead. That followed an RBI single in the eighth inning by second baseman Chris Nelson, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI, to tie the game at 3-3. Right fielder Joe Mather was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs. Starting pitcher Edgar Gonzalez allowed three runs in seven innings.
Double-A Tulsa (W, 4-1 vs. Arkansas, box)
Starting pitcher Rob Scahill allowed one run on four hits, walked two and struck out five in seven innings. Third baseman James Cesario was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Right fielder Bronson Sardinha was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.
High Class-A Modesto (W, 6-5 vs. Stockton, 12 innings, box)
Shortstop Josh Rutledge was 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs, including the game-winner in the 12th inning after being hit by a pitch and scoring on a Kiel Roling single. Right fielder Kent Matthes was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs. Starting pitcher Alan DeRatt allowed one unearned run on two hits, walked one and struck out six in six innings.
Low Class-A Asheville (L, 8-5 vs. Kannapolis, box)
Right fielder Kyle Parker was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Center fielder Rafael Ortega was 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and a stolen base. Starting pitcher Peter Tago allowed seven runs in five innings.
Short Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 4-2 at Spokane, box)
Center fielder Brian Humphries was 5-for-5 with a run and a stolen base. Shortstop Timothy Smalling was 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs. Starting pitcher Ben Alsup allowed one run on two hits, walked two and struck out three in four innings.
Rookie Casper (L, 4-3 at Missoula, box)
Catcher Will Swanner was 2-for-4 with a double. First baseman Harold Riggins was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Starting pitcher Daniel Winkler allowed three runs in four innings.







I was wondering, can anyone on the ITR site tell us whether Parker’s numbers and performance at Ashville have been what they expected, disappointing, or exciting?
