Triple-A Colorado Springs (L, 12-4 at Sacramento, box)
First baseman Mike Jacobs and third baseman Matt Macri were each 2-for-4 with a two-run home runs. Starting pitcher Alan Johnson allowed nine runs (eight earned) in 1 1/3 innings.

Double-A Tulsa (W, 2-0 at Arkansas, box)
First baseman Ben Paulsen drove in both Drillers runs with an eighth-inning double. Starting pitcher Josh Sullivan allowed five hits, walked one and struck out one in five innings. Reliever Stephen Dodson picked up his eighth win, allowed just one hit and no walks in three scoreless innings. Daniel Turpen recorded his ninth save,

High Class-A Modesto (W, 6-2 vs. Stockton, box)
Starting pitcher Chad Bettis allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out seven in seven innings. It was the seventh consecutive start for Bettis in which in pitched at least seven innings. Right fielder Kent Matthes was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run. Second baseman Angelys Nina was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI. Shortstop Josh Rutledge extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a triple.

Low Class-A Asheville (L, 5-2 at Kannapolis, box)
Starting pitcher Tyler Matzek took a no-hitter into the fifth before running into a wall and allowed two doubles and two walks to the first five batters and a total of five runs in the fifth inning. In all, Matzek allowed the five runs on five hits, walked eight and struck out six in five innings. Catcher Dustin Garneau was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.

Short-Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 4-0 vs. Vancouver, box)
Starting pitcher Tyler Gagnon allowed two hits, walked one and struck out eight in six scoreless innings. Gagnon has allowed just one run in 18 2/3 innings in his past three starts. Center fielder Brian Humphries was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Rookie Casper (W, 7-1 vs. Orem, box)
Starting pitcher Geoff Parker allowed one unearned run on three hits, walked five and struck out seven in six innings. Shortstop Rosell Herrera was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Second baseman Samuel Mende was 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base.

    Here is hoping that Matzek was simply a case of getting tired. Sounds like the first 4 innings went relatively well. We can now afford to be a bit more patient with the kid, so lets hope he builds up his resume the rest of this year.
