Tuls’s Rob Scahill took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and, thanks to a pair of double plays, had faced the minimum through six. Scahill allowed one run on three hits, walked three and struck out seven in eight innings to pick up his 11th win.

Esmil Rogers kept the Colorado Rockies in the game after a big first-inning mistake. But because of their continued inability to string hits together and deliver in the clutch, they lost 4-2 and were swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

August, 31, 2011.  Stunning news out of the Rocky Mountain State as the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies have reached an agreement to move controversial, yet wildly popular Tim Tebow to the Rockies.  Inside sources for Whacky Major League Trade Rumours say the  players the Rockies are giving up will be veterans Todd Helton and Seth Smith, both back up quarterbacks at their respective colleges.
The move would tend to make sense in that it’s apparent Tebow’s throwing action is not ideal for him to be an NFL QB …

The high-energy Bettis hasn’t lost his edge, but he has kept from getting too amped, a necessary skill that has helped him surge in the second half.

For his part, Bettis seems to have handled his workload well. He regularly touches 97, 98 mph with his fastball and averages 95 mph and to maintain that velocity late in the season is telling.
