Triple-A Colorado Springs (W, 4-3 vs. Nashville, box)
First baseman Mike Jacobs was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Left fielder Mike Paulk was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Starting pitching Edgar Gonzalez allowed three runs (one earned) in 5 2/3 innings.

Double-A Tulsa (Postponed)

High Class-A Modesto (W, 5-4 at Rancho Cucamonga, box)
Shortstop Josh Rutledge was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Second baseman Angelys Nina was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Starting pitcher Parker Frazier allowed four runs in six innings.

Low Class-A Asheville (W, 5-0 vs. Hickory, box)
Right fielder Kyle Parker was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Second baseman Brett Tanos was 2-for-4 with two doubles, and two RBI. Starting pitcher Nick Schaitmann allowed six hits, walked one and struck out three in seven scoreless innings.

Short-Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 1-0 at Eugene, box)
Starting pitcher Tyler Gagnon allowed three hits, walked one and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings. Gagnon has allowed one run and 13 hits in 31 1/3 over his past five starts.  Shortstop Taylor Featherston was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Second baseman Timothy Smalling was 2-for-4.

Rookie Casper (W, 7-4 vs. Idaho Falls, box)
First baseman Harold Riggins was 2-for-4 with a grand slam. Center fielder David Kandilas was 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Starting pitcher Geoff Parker allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out six in six innings.

    Is it possible that Rutledge and Arenado are bumped nest year past Tulsa up to AAA, or would Tulsa be a better gauge of their ability.

    No, they’ll both be at Tulsa. No reason to bump them to Triple-A. Doesn’t mean, though, that I either player would have to go to Triple-A before going to the majors.

    Steve, love having the Rox AAA cub here in COS, but it’s starting to seem like a liability in player development, especially young hitters and all pitchers. Given the humidor is going in and it does prepare kids for altitude (as well as being really close), is it time for a change.
