Triple-A Colorado Springs (W 7-5 vs. Memphis, box)
Jason Giambi was 3-for-3 — all singles — with three RBI and a run. Center fielder Joe Mather was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Second baseman Jesus Merchan was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs. Starting pitcher Greg Reynolds allowed five runs and struck out seven in seven innings.

Double-A Tulsa (L, 10-9 at Midland, box)
Shortstop Hector Gomez was 2-for-6 with a double, an RBI and a run. Second baseman Thomas Field was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Center fielder Tim Wheeler was 3-for-6 with a stolen base. Starting pitcher Dan Houston allowed seven runs in three innings. The Drillers were in line for a win after five scoreless innings from the bullpen, but Daniel Turpen allowed three-runs in the bottom of the ninth.

High Class-A Modesto (Did Not Play)

Low Class-A Asheville (L, 6-3 at Rome, box)
Starting pitcher Joshua Slaats allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings.Shortstop Cristhian Adames was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Center fielder Rafael Ortega was 2-for-5.

Short-Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 18-7 at Everett, box)
The Dust Devils scored in six different innings and six hitters had at least two hits. Right fielder Jared Simon was 5-for-6 with a double, two home runs, six RBI and four runs. Designated hitter Leonardo Reyes and second baseman David Hernandez each had three hits, a home run and two RBI. Shortstop Timothy Smalling was 3-for-6 with two doubles and three runs. Starting pitcher Ricardo Ferrer allowed five runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings.

Rookie Casper (L, 6-4 at Idaho Falls, box)
Catcher Will Swanner was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Designated hitter Francisco Sosa was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Center fielder David Kandilas was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base. Starting pitcher Patrick Johnson allowed five runs (four earned) in five innings.

    Hope they trade Giambi. They don’t need a bench player who can’t pinch hit well and is a defensive liability.

    Isn’t Jason due to come off the DL? We sure could have used him in today’s power packed lineup in Cincinnati.
