Rockies farm roundup: Spilborghs begins rehab

Triple-A Colorado Springs (W, 5-4 vs. Salt Lake, 10 innings, box)
Ryan Spilborghs was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first rehab appearance with the Sky Sox. Center fielder Willy Taveras was 3-for-4 with two runs. Jordan Pacheco started at third base for the second time in his past three games and was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Starting pitcher Clayton Mortensen allowed four runs (three earned) in seven innings.

Double-A Tulsa (W, 4-3 vs. Frisco, box)
First baseman Ben Paulsen was 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and three runs scored. Paulsen has an eight-game hitting streak during which he is hitting .344 with four home runs and nine RBI. Starting pitcher Joe Gardner allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out six in seven innings, his best start and first win since joining the Rockies organization. Drew Pomeranz underwent an emergency appendectomy in Tulsa. He is expected to be released from the hospital Sunday, but the time off for recovery could mean the end of his season.

High Class-A Modesto (W, 7-6 vs. Visalia, box)
Shortstop Josh Rutledge was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs and four RBI, including two RBI on a game-winning single in the ninth. First baseman Jared Clark hit a solo home run. Starting pitcher Edwar Cabrera allowed two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out 10 in six innings. The 10 strikeouts pushed Cabrera to 202 in 156 innings between Asheville and Modesto.

Low Class-A Asheville (L, 10-9 vs. Rome, box)
Designated hitter Dominic Altobelli was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI. Shortstop Cristhian Adames, left fielder Corey Dickerson and catcher Dustin Garneau each had two hits and a home run. Starting pitcher Joshua Slaats allowed six runs in six innings.

Short Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 7-2 vs. Yakima, box)
Right fielder Jaron Shepherd was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBI and a run. Catcher Ryan Casteel doubled and drove in two runs. Center fielder Brian Humphries was 2-for-2 with an RBI, a run and two stolen bases. Starting pitcher Ricardo Ferrer allowed two runs (one earned) in four innings.
