Rockies farm roundup: Spilborghs has three hits in loss
Triple-A Colorado Springs (L, 23-11 vs. Salt Lake, box)
Ryan Spilborghs was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Spilborghs is 9-for-16 with a double, two home runs and six RBI in his four-game rehab. Center fielder Willy Taveras was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, his 10th. Designated hitter Scott Beerer was 4-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and a run. Starting pitcher Joey Williamson allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings. Reliever Andrew Johnston was hit hardest in the slugfest, allowing seven runs in one inning of work.
Double-A Tulsa (W, 5-0 at Arkansas, box)
Center fielder Tim Wheeler was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base. Shortstop Hector Gomez doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. Starting pitcher Josh Sullivan allowed one hit, walked no one and struck out five in five shutout innings. Relievers Adam Jorgenson and Dustin Molleken finished the shutout, each allowed one hit and striking out two in two innings.
High Class-A Modesto (W, 2-1 vs. Lake Elsinore, box)
Starting pitcher Alan DeRatt allowed one hit and one unearned run, walked three and struck out four in six innings. Second baseman Angelys Nina was 3-for-4 with and RBI. Shortstop Josh Rutledge singled, scored and stole a base.
Low Class-A Asheville (L, 13-5 at Lexington, box)
Starting pitcher Peter Tago allowed nine runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out no one in 1 1/3 innings. Infielder Dominic Altobelli hit a three-run home run. Center fielder Avery Barnes was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. It was the third consecutive two-hit game for Barnes and the sixth multihit game in his past nine.
Short-Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 2-1 vs. Spokane, box)
Center fielder Brian Humphries, left fielder Tyler Massey and shortstop Taylor Featherston each had two hits. Massey drove in one run and scored one. Starting pitcher Chris Jensen allowed one run on two hits, walked four and struck out one in 4 2/3 innings.
Rookie Casper (L, 7-6 at Great Falls, box)
Designated hitter Francisco Sosa was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and RBI and a run scored. Right fielder Julian Yan was 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. Starting pitcher Raul Fernandez allowed five runs (four earned) in 4 2/3 innings.
