Punchless Rockies are swept by D’Backs

The Rockies had runners on first and second with two out in both the seventh and eighth, but pinch hitter grounded out to end the seventh and Helton flied out in the eighth.
With two out in the ninth,singled off closer J.J. Putz. He struck out pinch hitter on three pitches to end the game.
_ With Tulowitzki not in the lineup, Kevin Kouzmanoff hit cleanup in his seventh game with the Rockies He batted sixth in his Rockies debut Aug. 24 and hit seventh in his next five starts. Kouzmanoff is the seventh player to hit cleanup for the Rockies this year. In addition to Tulowitzki (128 games), the Rockies who have hit fourth are(3), Smith (2) and Alfonzo, Giambi and Helton (1).

_ Fowler’s double and homer gave him 41 extra-base hits this season and 23 since being recalled July 15 from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
_ The Rockies went 13-16 in August. Their other monthly records were 17-8 in April, 8-21 in May, 14-13 in June and 12-15 in July. Since their 11-2 start, the Rockies have gone 53-71 (.427). They went 44-48 before the All-Star break and are 21-25 after the break.
