Tebow Traded To The Rockies
DENVER. August, 31, 2011. Stunning news out of the Rocky Mountain State as the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies have reached an agreement to move controversial, yet wildly popular Tim Tebow to the Rockies. Inside sources for Whacky Major League Trade Rumours say the players the Rockies are giving up will be veterans Todd Helton and Seth Smith, both back up quarterbacks at their respective colleges.
The move would tend to make sense in that it’s apparent Tebow’s throwing action is not ideal for him to be an NFL QB and Rockies’ GM Dan O’Dowd says the throwing action profiles perfectly for him to be a ground ball-type pitcher, ideal for Coors Field. Adds O’Dowd, “Tebow will slot in as the Rockies sixth starter, even though he hasn’t pitched a baseball game in his life. The guy brings an intangible element to any game he plays.” “I expect him to succeed immediately”. “And what the hell”, O’Dowd said under his breath, “If nothing else we’ll sell a crap load of jerseys”. “Plus, it may take some focus off me and Trace for our disappointing season”. “When John Elway approached me with the crazy idea the only thing I could think was, and I’ve said it before”, O’Dowd continued, “the only bad trades are the ones you don’t make.”
The Broncos should be happy to have “The Tebow Thing” finally off their backs even though they add two more QBs to the mix. Don’t be surprised if Helton is out there in the third quarter and Smith in the fourth for at least one snap for the Broncos final pre-season game Thursday night versus the Arizona Cardinals. In fact, Helton and Smith will probably just stay in Arizona as they are finishing off yet another disappointing, nail in the Rockies’ season, series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Broncos head coach John Fox, “we want to get a sense of what either of these guys can bring. Obviously, Helton still has some gas in the tank as apparent from his resurgence this year and he’s a proven winner and gamer. Add the fact he’s best buds with Payton Manning, enough said!” Smith is considered more of a throw in as his relationship with Rockies management started turning south late in the season as Jim Tracy repeatedly sat Smith after productive games from him. He just wanted a change in scenery according to a recent Tweet from his agent. Tebow, Helton or Smith were not available for comment by press time.

(Attempt at some The Onion like humor as it’s a now apparent the season’s lost for our beloved Rockies)
I think I called this one yesterday I knew something was up… Great post Rox4brains lol
I like this trade. Tebow has a little upside and probably could beat out Cook for his spot in the rotation. Losing Helton hurts, but Garret Atkins is floating around somewhere and would probably comeback.
Outfielder Aaron Rowand and infielder Miguel Tejada were designated for assignment Wednesday by the San Francisco Giants, a major shake-up for the stumbling defending World Series champions.
Rowland($12m) is batting .233 with four home runs and 21 RBIs in 108 games.
Tejada received a $6.5 million, one-year free agent deal in December to join the Giants. He was batting .239 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 91 games.
And they are stumbling? We must not be…just sayin
Jim Tracy will never start Tebow. Kouzmanoff, Wigginton, and EYJ bring veteran experience and raw speed to the basebaths.
Too funny, Rox! Laughing helped me stop throwing up over last night’s game.
Hey Tebow is another lefty, and DanO has never met a lefty that he didn’t like. You just can never have too many left handers in the lineup or on the mound. Come to think of it, that’s probably why the Rockies have been looking for that RH power bat well forever – yep Brady Quinn just might be availble too and he has that added plus in that he is from Cleveland too!
Can we trade for Brian Urlacher?
When the Rox get a runner on 3B, they can pinch-run Urlacher so we don’t always have that soft landing at home on that run on contact play.
