Triple-A Colorado Springs (L, 12-7 vs. Sacramento, box)
Designated hitter Scott Beerer was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Left fielder Mike Paulk hit a two-run home run. Starting pitcher Joey Williamson allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Double-A Tulsa (L, 3-0 vs. Springfield, box)
Shortstop Hector Gomez and catcher Lars Davis had the only two Drillers hits. Starting pitcher Josh Sullivan allowed three runs in seven innings.

High Class-A Modesto (W, 3-2 vs. Visalia, box)
Shortstop Josh Rutledge was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI. It was the second home run in three games for Rutledge, who has an 11-game hitting streak and is 11-for-16 in his past four games. Third baseman Nolan Arenado singled and drove in the Nuts’ other run. Starting pitcher Chad Bettis allowed one run on two hits, walked two and struck out nine in five innings.

Low Class-A Asheville (L, 1-0 at Charleston, box)
Starting pitcher Nick Schnaitmann allowed one earned run in eight innings, but it was the only run scored in the game. Second baseman Brett Tanos was 2-for-4 with a double.

Short-Season Class-A Tri-City (W, 3-1 vs. Salem-Keizer, box)
Right fielder Jared Simon hit a two-run home run that broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. Designated hitter Juan Crousset was 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Starting pitcher Ben Alsup allowed one run and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings.

Rookie Casper (W, 5-4 vs. Ogden, box)
First baseman Harold Riggins homered for the second consecutive game. Catcher Will Swanner was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs. Starting pitcher Geoff Parker allowed three runs (two earned) and struck out six in five innings.

    Rutledge hitting .421 since All-Star break. In any league, even one so friendly to hitters, that’s big news.

    Bettis’ ERA – 2.51 since the break.

    Both players’ status is up. Bettis was strong out of the gate last season. 2011 has elevated him to the most advanced pitcher in the minors for the Rockies not named Drew Pomeranz.
